About me

I am Mother to Māhi. Nurturing my son is piece by piece cracking open my reverence for Mother - that life creating, nurturing, archetypical force that lives deep within the bones of me, of women, of the earth.

I am tending to questions around how we meet these times of crisis, collapse, and transition in radical togetherness … dreaming into the beautiful world our hearts feel is possible. Remembering the ways of my indigenous European ancestors, connecting to land, trees, fungi, water, to self, to the collective pulse of life and humanity through ritual, devotion, raw + authentic communication, and embodiment practice. My heart longs to be part of culture rooted in regenerative values of care, co-operation, relationality, aligning to cyclical rhythms, reciprocity with Earth, animate realms, and centres thriving life in community.

I create medicine with plants, handcrafted herbal body oils, tinctures. I am a novice to basketry, clay, cloth.

‍A Humbling Tapestry of Experience

Woven together to inspire my work includes:

  • My son, birthing himself sovereign through my body at home, by the flicker of flame and moonlight.

  • Training with the Red School in Menstrual Leadership Education, plant wisdom with Isla Burgess, learnings with Kimberley Ann Johnson, Jane Hardwicke Collings, Rachelle Seliga, and in Myofascial Release Therapy in Berlin and Mexico, primarily with Frali Venner.

  • Doctoral/post-doctoral research mentorship and friendship with Professor Penny Green.

  • Working as a human rights lawyer with the United Nations in Austria and Nigeria.

  • Over a decade as an academic doctor/lawyer/activist embedded with rebel armies, genocide survivors, and political activists, traversing Myanmar’s jungled mountains and remote villages, immersed in stories of resilience, resistance, and revolution in Burma.

  • Tending to my grief stricken heart and body paralysis when that became too much for my body to hold.

  • Ongoing learnings to recognize and dismantle my own internalized misogyny, colonial imprint, and toxic femininity.

  • Journeying into the underworlds and otherworlds in Mexico, Costa Rica, Indonesia.

  • Exploring layers of Self through years lived in London and Berlin.

My experience led me back to my roots. Back to matter. To Earth. To motherhood as devotion. Forever learning with the soul-flesh that is my son. For me, the ills manifesting in our world rest upon a void of culture that centres life. Having been embedded within geopolitics for over a decade, I sense that traumatised individuals wielding political power in ways that violate humanity and the earth, is directly related to western modernity's lack of connection to humanity as a whole - to land, to the more than human realms; and the erosion of conditions that enable parenting values that are orientated towards life’s physiological blueprint: those of nurture, cooperation, togetherness, thriving in community.

Returning Home

In 2024, after 14 years abroad, my body guided me back to my motherland, Aotearoa-New Zealand. I live near the shores of pristine Lake Hāwea with my Sun.
